Today “Basket to Ethiopia” is one year old. A little more than a year ago I started the Baskeet documentation project and on the 20th of October 2011 I started this blog with a post on baskets, the Baskeet language and the Basketo Special Woreda. Since then 60 posts have been published.
Exactly four years ago, on the 20th October 2008, during my first stay in the Baskeet area, I walked from Laska to Obc’a and further down to Gimba, almost to the Usno River. Because I had been sitting and working in my “office” in Laska for many weeks, I was desperate to walk around and see more of the Baskeet area. The area was lush green after an unexpectedly long rainy season. This is the view from Mandit down on Obc’a on a 20th of October. In the background, the mountains of the Melokoza Woreda are visible.
